Jerry Edward Sargent Sr., 72, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020.

Jerry was born in Chincoteague Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Leonard Sr. and Geneva Sargent, a sister, Emma Stevens, wives, Brenda Jane Sargent and Dwana Gail Bowman, a daughter, Angela Sargent and son, James Sargent.

Words fail to express the sum of Jerry's life or the void and deep sadness his passing leaves with his family.  Jerry was a dedicated husband, brother and father. He had a dry wit, was humble and kind and always willing to help others. In his younger days he enjoyed souped up cars and dirt track car racing. He worked as a coal miner and was happiest doing mechanic and body work on cars.

Jerry is survived by ten children, daughters Cynthia Roberts and husband Darrell, Tina Bentley, Debbie Sargent, Rhonda Greene and husband Tommy, Carrie Overbey and husband Frank, Kimberly Forney, Pamela Mejia and husband Esteban, sons Jerry Sargent Jr and wife Donna, Anthony Sargent and wife Rhodessa, Michael Sargent and wife Whitney. He is also survived by sisters Patricia Sloan, Lorna Eckard, Peggy Anderson, Sandra Tomko, Donna Akers, Jennifer Browning and Sherry Cox, and brother, Leonard Sargent Jr., grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.

Services for Jerry will be private. Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, VA. Please visit www.sturgillfuneral.com to leave online condolences for the family.
