Jennings Clay Vanover Sr., 77, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at his home after an extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Wise County, was of the Pentecostal Faith and was a retired Coal Truck Driver.
In better health, he enjoyed spending long hours searching for ginseng and dry land fish. He was a music lover who could play numerous instruments and he delighted in spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Italy Mullins Vanover; his parents, Doad and Lola Vanover; brothers, Sam Vanover and Frank Vanover; sisters, Ellen Vanover, Margie Miller, Bea Dale, Violet Vanover and Emma Mullins.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Washington and husband Foster and Rose Maloney and husband George; one son, Jennings Vanover Jr. and wife Mary; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Coy Vanover and James Vanover; two sisters, Ilah Kiser and Charlotte Johnson; his caregiver, Debbie Elliott; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Jennings Clay Vanover Sr. will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Evangelist Donald Harding Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
