Wilma Ruth Carter Mefford, finished her journey on earth on Monday, June 1, 2026.

She was the oldest of eleven children of Wince and Edna Carter.

She married Doyal Mefford in 1953 and they had and raised five children.

She and her husband were well known for their singing and faithfulness to the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wince and Edna Carter; husband, Lacy Doyal Mefford; son, Jerry Lee Mefford; two brothers, Paul Carter and Eugene Ray Carter; and sister, Brenda Tribble.

She is survived by son, Wayne Mefford and wife Cindy of Wise; daughters, Juanita Ring and Brice of Castlewood, Robin McCarthy of Wise, and Michelle Stapleton of TN; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Donovian, Shirley Gardner, Betty Winebarger, Janice Keese, Martha Carter, and Peggy Bolling; brother, Charles Carter; sisters-in-law, Leo Carter, Rose Carter and Christine Hawkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Burial was private at Mrs. Mefford's request.
