WISE, VA                                        FEBRUARY 7, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce our beloved sister, Wilma McCumber, age 82, completed her earthly journey and moved to her eternal home in Heaven on February 5, 2022, at Norton Community Hospital.

Wilma had accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior and attended Beverly Hills Assembly of God Church in Wise. She was met at Heaven's gate by Jesus and many loved ones that had preceded her.  Wilma was born in Norton VA and was the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Grace Turner Shepherd.  She lived and attended school in Norton until her marriage to Bill Adams. They moved to Chicago where they had two beautiful daughters.  Wilma was a wonderful, caring and loving Mom to her daughters and grandchildren.  She was a hard worker all her life. When she moved back from Chicago, she worked at McDonald's in Norton for 10 years.  She loved people and was generous to anyone that needed help.  She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandy Pillsbury; sister, Margaret Goode; brothers, Bill and Paul Shepherd and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her youngest sister and brother-in-law Linda and Don Horne of Wise with whom she made her home for many years. She is also survived by three other sisters, Jean Lee of Duncan, SC, Kathy Plaster of Hicksville Oh. and Edie Wright (Billy) of Fredericksburg VA; three brothers, Bob and Charlie of Kingsport TN and Glen of Wise; granddaughter, Ricki Lynn Lunfrano of Chicago, IL that she loved like a daughter having raised her from the time she was born; one daughter, Debbie Leneave of Burbank, IL.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
We want to thank the doctors and nurses at Norton Community Hospital for their excellent care of Wilma, especially Dr. Shook and Dr. Yousaf.  Also we want to thank the staff at Heritage Hall of Wise for their compassionate care of her for the past two years.

Funeral services for Wilma McCumber will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Brother Mitch Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the Beverly Cemetery in Wise, VA. The family will receive friends from 12 noon till time of services at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
