Wilma Mae Matheison, 96, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 12, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Wilma grew up in the Stevens area of Wise, where she lived until she started her family. She was of Pentecostal faith and lived her life devoted to her beliefs. Wilma was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her knew true friendship and love.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Vada Reed Sexton both of Wise, Va; Three brothers, Fred E. Sexton, Clyde W. Sexton and Carl W. Sexton: two sisters, Irene Gilliam from Anderson Indiana and Alma Bolling, Wise Va; Daughter, Brenda L. Collins of Coeburn, VA; and grandson, Dakota S. Collins of Wise, Va.

Willma is survived by four daughters, Teri L Williams of Wise, Va., Diane K Wagner of Norton, Va, Judy D. Matheison of Johnson City, TN., and Donna (and Jamie) Sturgill of Northport, FL.; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 2:30 P.M. till 4:00 P.M. Friday, October 16, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, VA with Pastor RJ Rose officiating.
