William Edward (Powell) Sluss Sr., 84, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in the Holston Valley Medical Center Kingsport, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Alice Kate Ramey Sluss; three brothers, Charles, Joe Bill, Jack Sluss, six sisters, Marie Lee Plummer, Bessie Cobb, Dixie Johnson, Bernice Wright, Polly Proulex and Annie Coe.

He was owner of Powell Paving Company since 1976; and attended the Tacoma United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Flanary Sluss; two sons, William Edward (Shirley) Sluss Jr. and Gregory Wayne (Jayne) Sluss both of Coeburn, VA. a daughter, Michelle (Leroy) Sluss Hall of Bristol, VA. a sister, Sue Ella Luther of Coeburn, VA. five grandchildren, Diana Renee (Jason) Sluss Stanley, Joshua Shane Wells, Matthew Jacob Sluss, Nicholas Benjamin Sluss and Madisyn Michelle Hall; one great grandson, Wyatt Jason Stanley; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 15, 2020 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6 ^th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Funeral Services will follow at 2 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Carrol Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, VA.
