William (Rusty) L. Elam, Jr., 69, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at his home.

A member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Wise, William was a husband, father, friend, teacher, encourager, fighter, philosopher, photographer, martial artist, traveler, entrepreneur and adventurer. William exemplified living life to the fullest. He never met a sunrise that didn't make him smile, a songbird he didn't have time to listen to or a flower that he wouldn't stop and smell. Of the many accomplishments in his life the ones that mattered most to him were those of his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William LayFayette Elam, Sr. and June Hubbard.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years Diane Elam; his sister, Lora Williams and husband Roger; his three children, Renee Midgett and husband Roland, Lucas Elam and wife Tessa, Cheyenne Birse and husband Chuck; blessed with 6 grandchildren, Loran, Isaac, Ethan, Ella, Warrick and Mila and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for William Elam will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 6, 2022 at Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, Wise, VA with Pastor Phillip Bates of Wise Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Family will receive friends and relations on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. till time of services at the Sturgill Funeral Home Wise, VA.
