“He that over cometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” Rev 21:7
William Eugene Smith, 53 of Wise Virginia, went home to his heavenly Father on October 15, 2026 after a long battle with health issues. William fought long and hard and is now at rest in his savior’s arms. A member of the Church of Christ in Wise County Virginia, William was a dedicated Christian who loved his heavenly father. He spent countless hours in study and gave thanks and praise to God even unto death.
He wore many titles, he was a dad, a son, bub, and “bull bull” to his nieces and nephews, and a friend to many. William had many interests and hobbies; he had a passion for cars and motorcycles and was a skilled guitarist. A few of his favorite vehicles was his white mustang, his S10 truck and his dodge charger. He taught his son how to play guitar and was even in a band in his teenage years where he played guitar and sang. William loved heavy metal and 80s music. We always joked that you could hear him coming before you seen him. He took drafting in high school and was a gifted artist. He loved woodworking and even took flying lessons at the Wise County Airport. Many of us have the gift of sweet memories that we were blessed to have made with him and will treasure those always. We take comfort in knowing that he is now with Christ, and he will suffer no more. We know that one sweet day we will all be together again.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Billy Gene Smith and continues his legacy through his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, William Smith Jr. and girlfriend Kennedy (daughter); his mother, Judy Sexton and husband Chuck Sexton (dad); girlfriend, Lynn Freeman (wifey); sister, Melissa Roberts (sissy) and husband Denny Roberts (brother); niece, Kendra Sturgill and husband Dustin Sturgill; great nephews, Gunner and Weston Sturgill; nephews, Greyson Roberts and Peyton Roberts; niece, Riley Roberts; sister, Rejeania Roberts and husband Brian Roberts; nephew, Joshua Roberts and wife Lindsey Roberts; great niece and nephew Liam and Kira Roberts; niece, Kayla and fiancé Francis z.; nephew, Elijah Roberts and wife Rebecca Roberts; great niece, Lily, niece Faithlyn Roberts; brother, (big brother) Billy Smith and wife Bonnie Smith; niece, Ashley Knox and husband Dustin Knox; great nephew and niece Tyler and Elaine Knox. Uncle Danny and Aunt Carol, Uncle Bobby, Uncle Steve and Aunt Sharon, Uncle Eddie and Aunt Vera and many cousins; special family and friends, Rhonda and Chad Mullins, CJ Mullins, Zach Marcum, Tammy Dean, Adam Snyder, Eric Powers and a host of other family and friends.
Isaiah 57:1-3 “Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die.”
Revelation 2:10 “Be faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life.”
