William McKinley Davis, 96, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Heritage Hall Wise, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee (John Henry) and Desta Yates Davis; his wife Joan Linkous Davis; sisters, Mabel (LD) Powers, Mary (Don) Goodson, and Aileen (Harry) Senter.

He was a World War II Veteran U.S. Army serving in Germany and the Philippines; and a member of the VFW Post 8652 Coeburn, Virginia. Also was a Mechanic and moved his family to Detroit, Michigan in 1948 and worked various jobs. He worked 17 years until his retirement with Ambassador Bridge Maintenance and moved back to Coeburn in 1990. He was a member of the Davis Chapel Church Coeburn, and he loved his church congregation.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Stapleton of Coeburn, Virginia, and Brenda Irvin of Olathe, Kansas; a brother, Cruce (Carol) Davis of Coeburn, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Gary Welch of Bristol, Virginia; three grandchildren, Brenna Irvin, Rebecca Deschenes, Robert Irvin Jr. four great grandchildren, Bobby Bowen Irvin, Baylor Irvin, Colt McKinley Irvin, and Carter Michael Deschenes; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 24, 2021, 12 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6 ^th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Funeral Services will follow in the chapel with Rev. Terry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, Virginia with Military Honors by the Local VFW Members and Virginia National Guard.
