Walter Lee Laforce Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Tennessee to the late Walter Lee Laforce Sr. and Nancy Viola Porter Laforce.

Jr enjoyed watching westerns and playing with his grandkids. He was a fun loving, jolly guy who loved cooking, especially chocolate gravy and strawberry dumplings. He was caring and kindhearted, always offering a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his long-time companion, Susie Adkins; his son, David Laforce; and his grandson, Jacob Laforce.

Surviving are his children, Angie Freeman (Joe), Jeff Laforce (Tonya), James Laforce (Jennifer), Kim Plaster, and Scotty Ely; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Laforce and Jennifer Laforce; grandchildren, Autumn Minnix (Jon), Mikie Minnix (Kammi), Jeremey Laforce (Allison), Jenna Laforce, Dutton Gregory, Jeffery Laforce (Keandra), Tyler Neice, Matthew Peck, Brandon Ely, Cameron Adkins, Kristin Owens, Robert Ely, Michael Plaster, Brooklyn Plaster, Mckenzie Laforce, Kathy Ahlgrim (Nicholas), Elizabeth Gonzalez (Martin), Chris Christenbury, Ronald Christenbury, and James Christenbury; his brother, Jay Harold Porter; special friends, Tony Baker, Goldie Hill, and Johnny Farmer; and a host of great-grandkids, friends and family.

Funeral services for Walter Lee Laforce, Jr. will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Darrell Bolling officiating. Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
