Virginia Marie (Day) Hylton, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

She attended Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church in Wise, VA where she enjoyed singing her favorite hymns. Another favorite pastime she enjoyed was hand quilting and canning to provide for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Bruce Hylton; son, David Bryon Hylton; parents, Elbert and Myrtle Day; brothers, Elbert Day, Jr., Charles Day, George Ernest Day, James Day and Johnny Day and a sister, Mary Ruth Powers.

Surviving are her children, Billy Ray Hylton and wife Patricia of Clintwood, VA, Barbara Olinger and husband Jimmy, Elizabeth Moore and husband Wayne of Wise, VA, Charles Hylton and wife Teresa of St. Leonard, Maryland; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother, Douglas Fred Day; several nieces, nephews and friends.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to her caregivers and to Caris Healthcare.

Visitation for Virginia Hylton will be held from 2:00 P.M. till 4:00 P.M. on Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside services will follow in the Wise Cemetery with Rev. Mike Jordan officiating. Burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church, 5300 Pole Bridge Rd. Wise, VA 24293.
