Vernal Collier, 87, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Ridgecrest Manor Nursing Home in Duffield, VA.

He was a Christian man. He worked as a coal miner and later as a machinist until his retirement in 1987.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ena and Nevie Collier of Wise; two wives, Barbara Vaughan and Mavis Ledford; daughters, Vickie Macababbad, Tina Arevalo, Renee Denham and adopted son, Jamie Ledford.

Surviving are sons, Joe and Cyrus Collier of Fairbanks, Alaska; daughter, Hope Kerns; son-in-law, Michael Denham; grandchildren, Precillia Diets, Jon Denham and Sabrina Glenn; great-grandsons, Nazareth Whited, Malcolm Williams, Malquan and Jacob; nephew, Baxter Beverly and wife Ondrea; great-nephew, Andrew Beverly; numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews not listed and a host of other family and friends.

A private burial was held at Round Top Cemetery, Wise, VA.
