Vergie Aleda Evans Meade journeyed home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the age of 93.  She preceded in her home-going by her beloved husband, Ival Meade, her son-in-law, Duane Stoots, and her great granddaughter, Lauren Meade.  Surviving is one sister, Trudy McCarty of Florida. Also surviving are her six children, Dolores (Ben) Ketron of Chesterfield, Virginia, Ival Mack (Sherry) Meade Jr, Deborah Stoots, Rebecca (Vernon) Osborne, all of St. Paul, Virginia.  Tommy Meade, of Castlewood, Virginia, Donna Perry of Coeburn, Virginia, along with 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Vergie was a longtime member of the Herald Church of God of Prophecy and was the true embodiment of the "good and faithful servant."  As a pillar of the Sandy Ridge community for decades, Vergie welcomed many into her home for a meal or fellowship.  Her cheery disposition and her sense of humor were unmatched.  Vergie was a friend to all; her love lives on through her family and all who knew her and were blessed by her warmth and generosity.

The family would like to offer a special 'thank you' to all caregivers who lovingly looked after Mother in her final years-Linda Burke, Pam Evans, and Letha Meade.

Mother, Mamaw, you worked hard and took such good care of us; now it is your turn to rest in the arms of Jesus.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 22, 2022, 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6 ^th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Robert Ledford officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted 11 A.M. Friday, September 23, 2022, at Temple Hill Memorial Park Castlewood, VA. Family and friends will meet at 10 A.M. Friday morning at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
