Tony Wayne Greene, 69, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his home after a battling liver disease/cancer for six years.

Tony resided most of his life in Dickenson and Wise County, VA., making The Appalachian Mountains his home. He was proud to be a "Country Boy". He graduated from Ervinton High School then attended heavy equipment school. He worked in the coal industry retiring from Clinchfield coal Company/Alpha Resources. He was a member of the UMWA Local 1259.

Tony was proud to serve on the board of directors of The Health Wagon Inc., a medical organization that provides free services to those in need.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrel Snook Greene.

Surviving is his mother, Barbara Ball Greene.

His wife, Kathy Crabtree Greene; daughters, Hailey Greene of the home, and Amber Greene of Norton, VA.,

His daughter, Jessica Greene and son, Aaron.

Sisters, Darlene (David) McConnell, Rose (Darrel) Little, Betsy (Con) Little, Kay (Ernie) Winebarger, Lucy (Billy) Carty, and Becky Stout.

Grandson, Anthony (Nichole) Carty best friend and caregiver.

Several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 23, 2023, 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6 ^th Street NW Coeburn, VA. UMWA Service will follow and funeral service in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Billy Carty officiating. Burial will follow in the Frank and Pearl Crabtree Cemetery Wise, VA.
