Timothy Wayne Porter, 63, of Moultrie, GA, formerly of Coeburn, VA, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026, at UF Health in Gainesville, FL. He was born August 15th, 1963, in Norton, VA.

He was preceded in death by his father Calvin Porter and one brother Mark.

He is survived by his mother Martha Peters (Roger); a brother, Chris Porter and nephew, Austin (Desirae). Also surviving are his beloved daughters: Pamela (Jeff), Breeanna (Jordan), Callie (Chris), and Brooke (Gavin); their mothers: Lesia, Luana, and Michelle who each shared an important chapter of his life; and Trina, whom he shared his final journey with.

Tim was blessed with 8 granddaughters: Ashley (Tyler), Amber (Colton), Alysa (Kalen), Emma, Chelsea, Chloe, Amayleigh and Macie. 4 grandsons: Andrew, Noah, Hagan, and Grayson. 2 great-granddaughters: Maddie and Livvy. 1 great-grandson: Mason and another great grandchild on the way.

Tim, also known as “Minnerhead”, a CB radio handle given to him early in his coal hauling days. He had a passion for driving big trucks. He drove for the late Gary Carroll, hauling coal locally during the week and working on trucks at the shop on the weekends. After several years of driving locally and learning something new every day, he and Gary both agreed it was time for him to become an owner-operator, and Tim Porter Trucking was established.

Shortly after, he made a life-changing decision to move south to Moultrie, Georgia where he earned the nickname “Hillbilly”. He would continue to drive a truck, hauling different things, and eventually the truck driving would turn into being one of the best mechanics, diesel or not, in South Georgia and surrounding areas. Tim was so smart and so driven. If he agreed to do a job, that job was done and it was done right. He was a jack of all trades and could do anything he set his mind to.

The one and only thing he could not do, but would surely have loved to accomplish, was to move mountains and shorten the roads that kept such a long distance between his loved ones in Virginia and in Georgia.

He was taken from us way too soon and not a day will go by without somebody missing him, speaking of him, wishing they could call him one last time to ask how to fix this or that, and also remembering some crazy things he had said or done. We have all been blessed to have had him in our lives and he will forever be missed but never forgotten.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 4, 2026, 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, Va. Funeral Service will follow in the chapel.
