Susan Rose left this world peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Wake Forest Hospital surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, friend, and a cherished member of the community whose kindness and creativity touched countless lives.
She was a member of Mt. Olivet Church in Coeburn. Susan was once the proud owner of Jack's Floral; a business she poured her heart into for 20 years. Her talent for creating beautiful arrangements was matched only by her joy in helping others celebrate life's most meaningful moments. Through her work, she brought beauty, comfort, and happiness to weddings, celebrations, and families throughout the community.
Those who knew Susan will remember her warm spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering generosity. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for, and her presence brought light into every room she entered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Letcher and Opal Mullins, brother Phillip Mullins, sister Lola Mullins, and granddaughter Allyson Rose. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donnie Rose, son Brian (Melanie) Rose of Coeburn, daughter Mindy Maine of Coeburn, sisters Chris Poe and Margaret Hodge, grandchildren Drew (Morgan) Maine, Kaitlyn Maine and Grayson Meade, Sarai (Hunter) Crawford, Ben Maine, and Layla Maine, all of Coeburn, several nieces and nephews, along with several dear friends who held a special place in her heart and whom she lovingly considered family.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 14, 2025, 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn. Funeral Services will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnny Adkins officiating. Entombment will be on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 2 P.M. in the Temple Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Castlewood, Virginia. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home 1 P.M.
