Sondra Ellen McPeck, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Sondra grew up in Wise, VA, after graduating from High School she moved to Washington D.C., and worked as a secretary where she met and married her husband, Ronald Lee McPeck and they had one son.

After her husband's illness they moved to Wise, VA where he passed and she remained single and raised her son while working fulltime at the Wise County Courthouse with many years of service and later retired.

Sondra enjoyed her retirement and kept busy running her own gift shop. She also enjoyed traveling, especially her yearly trips to the beach with the girls. She also enjoyed cooking for family and friends, gardening, volunteering at her church, where she was a member of Gladeville Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lee McPeck; her parents, Kermit R. Hopkins and Atta Mae Davis Hopkins; son, Ronald Lee McPeck Jr.; and sister, Carolyn Sue Gilley.

Sondra is survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of close friends.

Graveside services for Sondra McPeck will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 31, 2024 in the Colyer Family Cemetery in Wise, VA. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 P.M. Friday at the cemetery for services. Please visit www.sturgillfuneral.com to leave online condolences for the family.
