Shirley Anne Miller Adkins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Wise, Virginia, on Saturday, August 30, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born and raised in Wise, VA, and was the daughter of Herbert "Tub" and Beulah Miller.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Geneva Bolling of Wise, VA; and brother-in-law, Roger Woods of Wise, VA.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Julian Adkins. Also surviving is her sister, Sandra Woods of Wise, VA; her children, Valencia (Michael) Hebert of Weaverville, NC, and David (Kara) Adkins of Big Stone Gap, VA; and her son-in-law, Mark Bolling of Wise, VA.

She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Tayler Bolling of Wise, VA, Juliana and Rowan Adkins of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Sean (Lauren) Hebert of Leesburg, VA; as well as her great-grandchildren, Liam and Lily Hebert of Leesburg, VA.

Known as "Nana," her devotion to family was paramount, the true center of her world. She loved to cook, to give, and to care, always offering unwavering support and unconditional love. More than a wife, mother, sister, and friend, she was Nana to all. There is no greater love than the love of Nana.

Funeral services for Shirley Adkins will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Brandon White officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
