WISE, VA                                          NOVEMBER 4, 2025

Roy Edward Ramsey, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the Valley Health and Rehab in Chilhowie, VA.

He was born in Coeburn, VA and was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Ramsey; his parents, Emitt and Della; and his sister, Carol Phillips.

Today is a day to celebrate -not just to mourn - because Edward is now with the Lord. While hearts are heavy with loss, there is also peace in knowing that he has gone home, reunited with the love of his life and embraced by the grace and comfort of his faith.

It's hard to find the right words to describe just how much he meant. He wasn't someone who sought the spotlight, but his quiet presence spoke volumes. He had a way of making others feel safe and loved without needing to say much-just by being there. Edward was an electrician, and he spent his life working with his hands and his heart fixing things, building things, always helping out. But more than his skills, what truly defined him was his generosity. Whether it was family, a friend, or a neighbor, he was there when needed-never expecting anything in return.

He had a deep love for NASCAR-especially Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr. Sundays were for racing, and he watched with such focus and joy. It wasn't just about the cars-it was about loyalty, passion, and sharing something he truly loved. When the engines started, a smile would spread across his face. And when Dale Sr. or Dale Jr. won, he was ecstatic-and he'd talk about it for days. Those races became special moments-connecting with family, sharing excitement, and creating memories that lasted long beyond the checkered flag. Edward also cherished life's simpler joys: a quiet day fishing, a good game of cards, or time spent with loved ones. Those moments laughing, casting a line, playing a hand brought him peace.

He loved his children deeply not with loud declarations, but with a steady presence, quiet encouragement, and the way he always made time. Whether it was helping with a project, sharing a story, or simply showing up when they needed him, his love didn't have to be spoken-it was felt.

Later in life, Edward found faith, and it brought him great comfort and strength. His church welcomed him with open arms, and his relationship with God gave him a new sense of peace. Even when his wife no longer felt well enough to attend, Edward would call his family, to ask if he could still come. Church had become more than a routine-it was a place that anchored him, where he felt close to God and part of something meaningful.

Perhaps the greatest example of his love was how he cared for his wife when she became ill. As her dementia progressed and her behavior became more difficult, Edward responded with unwavering patience, tenderness, and compassion. In the final three days of her life, he never left her side. He was completely devoted to her. And when she passed, the depth of his love was undeniable-quiet, steadfast, and heartbreakingly evident.

In moments of grief like this, it helps to remember the promise of Scripture. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. "That is the God Edward came to know-a healer, a comforter, and a faithful Father. Edward didn't need recognition or praise. He taught others to be humble, to love without conditions, and to lead with actions rather than words. His kindness, his devotion, and his steady presence are the legacy he leaves behind.

His daughters, son, and grandchildren love him deeply and will always be grateful for all he did for them. His presence will be missed but his impact will never fade.

He will be missed more than words can express. But there is comfort in knowing that he is now at peace-his heart full, his spirit free, and his soul resting in the arms of the Lord he came to love. His love lives on in those who knew him-in the way they care, the way they show up, and the way they love each other.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Crystal {Kenneth) Barger, Heather {Matt) Marshall, April (Junior) Finch and Jonathan {Angela) Ramsey; grandchildren, Nathan Mathieson, Austin and Holden Marshall, Alex Pridemore, Kayleigh Poole {Skyler), Gaven, Bryleigh, Avalynn, and Annsley Ramsey; two great grandchildren, Aubrielle and Ryan Poole; three brothers, Larry, Bruce, Scott {Angie) and sister Sharon Castle (Jimmy).
