Robert E. (Bob) Dwyer, 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his home.

Robert retired from DuPont after 35 years of service in Wilmington, Delaware, he was a former Chief Engineer of the Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Co. in Newark, Delaware and was a former Transit driver for MEOC for over 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sproles Dwyer and his parents, Patrick Joseph and Edna Dwyer.

Surviving are his son, Patrick Dwyer and wife Beth of Big Stone Gap; 2 grandchildren, Mike Dwyer and wife Ashley and Jessica Dwyer and Dustin Littrell; 3 step-grandchildren, Sarah Slone and husband Zach, Raechel Clark, Ryan Clark and wife Annie; several great-grandchildren; special care givers, Heather Riggen and Nevaeh Riggen and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Bob Dwyer will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Dr. Lonnie W. Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. till time of services at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
