WISE, VA                                                        JUNE 8, 2026

Reba Jean "Mickie" Gilliam, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the age of 85 at Norton Community Hospital.

Mickie was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Ruth Kilgore.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love through her husband of 67 years, Kenneth Gilliam; her son, Scott Gilliam and wife Carla; her daughter, Susan Berg and husband Brian; her cherished granddaughter, Brooke Berg; her beloved sister, Peggy Gibson; special lifelong friend Betty Jo Kilgore, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mickie's life was defined by her unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Central Freewill Baptist Church. A dedicated Christian throughout her entire life, she taught Sunday School and Bible School.  She dedicated many years to the coordination of the church's meal committee lovingly organizing and delivering meals to families facing death or illness. She lived her faith daily through kindness, prayer, service, and a steadfast trust in God's promises. She found strength, comfort, and purpose in her faith, and she shared that faith with those around her through both her words and her example.

Nothing brought Mickie greater joy than her family. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a proud grandmother who treasured every moment spent with those she loved. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and selfless care for others created a home filled with love, encouragement, and faith.

While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that she is now in the presence of Jesus, whom she faithfully served throughout her life.

Funeral services for Reba Gilliam will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Gary Hill officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 11, 2026 in the Wise Cemetery.
