Raymond J. Large, 63, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Johnson City Medical Center Johnson City, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his biological father, Raymond Large and his grandparents, John & Dorothy Teasley.

He was an avid classic car and Hot Rod and race cars lover. He loved Nascar, raced at the Lonesome Pine Raceway and won several races and was crew chief, car owner was awarded crew chief and car owner of the year. He also raced at the Kingsport Raceway with wins there also.

Surviving are his parents, Harold & Shelby Evans of Coeburn, VA., his fiancé, Suzy Cooke of Norton, VA., sisters, Jennifer Ginger Large of Coeburn, Va., Tammy (Kenney) Mullins of Wise, VA., brothers, Joe (Sheila) Evans of Coeburn, VA., Travis (Jessica) Evans of Sevierville, TN., grandchildren, Bella Niece, and Grayson Cooke both of Wise, VA., stepson, Curtis Cooke, his only and very special niece, Jada (Nick) Sexton of Coeburn, VA., nephews, Ben Large of Tacoma, VA., Steven Evans of New York, Brandon (Lauren) Castle of Coeburn, VA., and Justin (Kelsey) Castle of Norton, VA., Justin Evans of Coeburn, VA., great nieces and nephews that he dearly loved, Isacc, Benson, Shylee Large, Grace Stanley, Parker and Addy Sexton, and Brenley Evans,  aunts and uncles, Jack (Irene) Teasley of Coeburn, VA., Danny (Sue) Teasley of Coeburn, VA., Jimmy Teasley of Coeburn, VA., Debby Teasley, Lois Ward, and Sue Meade all of Coeburn, VA., also his best friend that he thought of as a brother, Terry (Stoney) Stone of Dante, VA.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 14, 2025, 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday, April 15, 2025, 1 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Curt Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, VA.
