Raymond Joel Carty, 81, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, at the Heritage Hall Wise, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Stanley Carty, his parents, Everette & Loma Carty, a grandson, Brandon Lee, and several siblings.

He was a former employee of Clinchfield Coal Company and a member of the UMWA.

Surviving is a son, Jeffery (Tammy) Carty; two daughters, Janet Carolyn (John) Ritchie and Regenia Lynn (Ronnie) Yates; a brother Blaine (Betty) Carty; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren; several step grandchildren; his companion, Judy Moretz; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 4, 2023, 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6 ^th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Graveside Service will be conducted 1 P.M. Thursday, January 5, 2023, in the Edwards Cemetery Sandy Ridge with Pastor Greg Edwards officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 P.M. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
