Ramona Hampton, 64, gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 after a long battle with liver and kidney failure.  She had no children of her own, but had a legacy of caring for her nieces and nephews and other children until her decline in health.  She loved crafting, and especially doing arrangements for her mother's grave.

Ramona was a Christian who attended Lone Pine Chapel Church until she moved to Wise. She graduated from Pound High School and loved going to the lake with her special and close friend, James Sutherland and dog Triton.

Ramona was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hampton: mother, Valda Bentley: sister, Sue Butrum: brother, Dale Hennessey, and nephew Ricky Hennessey.

She is survived by sisters, Martha (Jim) Bolling and Teresa (Scott) Brewer: brothers, Jonah (Carol) Bentley and Charles (Ayah) Hampton: a large number of nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends in her community that loved her dearly.

Funeral services for Ramona Hampton will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Gary Hill officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at the Bentley Cemetery, Payne Gap, KY. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
