Obituary

WISE, VA. APRIL 30, 2023

Pamela Faye Slaughter Sanders, 73, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Norton Community Hospital in Norton VA.

Pam was born in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Jack and Belle Slaughter. She was one of four children, two of which preceded her in death. Pam grew up in the Stevens area and was a lifelong resident of Wise.

Pam was lucky enough to be loved by three wonderful men over the years. She married Carlos Garwood and they had three children, Mark, Sally and Amy. She and Carlos were later divorced, and she married Robbie Sanders. She was loved and cherished every day by him for nine years before losing him in a plane crash. She always said that the Brad Paisley song "Waitin on a woman" was Robbie. She just knew he would be sitting on a bench under a tree somewhere just waitin on the woman he will spend eternity with and now she's finally with him.  In 1997 she met and fell in love with the man who would be her constant companion for the next 26 years, Freddie Dean. They loved nothing more than to load up all of their grandkids and take them to the lake or to Pigeon Forge for the weekend. Freddie was her rock and very attentive caregiver throughout all of her health issues over the years.

During her life, Pam was amazing at a lot of things. But the thing she loved the most and was best at was loving her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She was so selfless and always put her family's needs above her own. She hadn't been to church since Robbie died and didn't really have a relationship with God anymore. But in the last six months she put time into working on that relationship and she had drawn much closer to God.

Pam leaves to cherish her loving memory, her three children; Mark Garwood of Florida, Sally Garwood of Wise, and Amy Garwood of Wise. Her partner, Freddie Dean of Wise and her sister, Linda Barry of Gray, Tennessee. She was blessed with seven beautiful grandbabies who she was so very proud of:  Erryn Garwood, Gabrielle Buchanan, Katie Garwood, Aidan Fite, Rylie Garwood, Kaley Crabtree, and Matthew Garwood. Also, after waiting what seemed like forever to her, she had three great-grandbabies, Blakely and Jaxtyn Buchanan and Mateo Berry.
