Omar Dayton
Stidham
d. May 8, 2022
Coeburn, Virginia May 10, 2022
It is with unbearable sadness and broken hearts that our family with God's grace must announce the passing of our beloved father, Omar Dayton Stidham.
That beautiful smile and kind heart left this world on May 8, 2022, at his home with family by his side.
Daddy grew up on Caney Ridge in Dickenson County, Virginia. His occupation was that of a coal miner and he was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, District 17.
If you ever met our daddy, you share our grief. He never met a stranger. His presence was felt by everyone whoever knew him and the minute you met; you knew he was special.
We were loved and cherished from the day we were born, and we always knew it. Our daddy loved us, and we loved him so very much.
He was an avid Gardner and he loved to hunt Ginseng.
Daddy was a member of Pippin Chapel Church and was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther, and Delcie Mae Elkins Stidham, his wife of 64 years, Erma Jean Stidham, three brothers, Garland, Harold, and Edgar Stidham, a daughter-in-law, Vanessa Jan Stidham, and a son-in-law, Eddie Rose.
Dayton is survived by six children, Linda Sabo, husband, Tim of Wise, VA., Wayne Stidham, wife, Marla of Coeburn, VA., Bruce Stidham, and Linda Lee of Coeburn, VA., Marlene Clawson, husband, Marty of Wise, VA., Darlene Buchanan, husband, Kermit of Coeburn, VA., Rhonda Hughes, husband, Adam of Wise, VA.
He was also survived by a host of grandchildren who loved him dearly.
He is also survived by brothers, David Stidham, wife, Katie of Huntersville, N.C., Doug Stidham of Bluff City, TN., Allen Stidham, wife, Teena of Largo, FL., Daril Stidham, wife, Brenda of Bristol, TN., sisters, Velma Morrell of Bristol, TN., and Rita Whitley of Clearwater, FL., and a host of nieces, and nephews along with several close relatives, and friends.
