WISE, VA.                                 SEPTEMBER 22, 2021

Nancy Kate Short, 79, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 due to complications from a stroke. Nancy was a mother and a homemaker. She loved reading, crafting, collecting cookbooks, watching detective shows, college football and the food network, she also dearly loved her family. Nancy was a 1961 graduate of J.J. Kelly High School in Wise and was an Indian fan through and through.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donnie Short Sr; sons, Donnie Short Jr. and wife Kim of Springfield, MO., Bobby Joe Short and wife Angela of Wise, Stacy Short and wife Kellie of Drift, KY and Andy Short and wife Jessica of Sevierville, TN, a sister, Peggy Elkins of Clintwood, VA, and a brother, Bob Gibson of Portsmouth, VA.

Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Katie, McKenzie, Madison, Jaden and Hanner as well as several nieces, nephews and family friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Bishop Gibson; mother, Edna Gibson and a sister, Sue Roberson.

Per Nancy's wishes, no services will be conducted and the family asks for privacy at this time.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Heritage Hall in Wise, the Norton Community Hospital Rehab Unit along with Dr. Michael Wheatley.
