Micheal (Mike) Glenn Hicken of Wise Va, age 77 passed away peacefully at Bristol Regional Hospital surrounded by family on September 7, 2026.

He is proceeded in death by his biological father, Eugene Hicken; his mother, Anna “Ethel” Boggs; his dad, William “Curt” Boggs; his sister, Sharon Phillips; and his brother, Gary Hicken.

He is survived by his immediate family, brother-in-law, Sammie Phillips of Wise, VA; Sister-in-law, Imogene Hicken of Somerset, KY; Nephews, Mike (Elizabeth) Hicken of Anthony NM, Donnie Hicken of Somerset, KY, and Duane (Kim) Phillips of Wise, VA; Nieces, Cindy (Mike) Rutherford of Pound, VA and Melinda (Sean) Wright of Wise, VA; along with a multitude of uncles, great nephews nieces, cousins and other family members.

He led a colorful life and loved to travel. He spent a lot of time in Northern United States and Canada. He worked as a talented artist who documented his travels on canvas. He sold many paintings and displayed them in various galleries. He would spend many years working security at the world famous Banff Springs Hotel in Banff Canada. During his middle adult years, he could be found spending his time by the river of Arlington VA. painting and playing his guitar for the visitors. As he aged and could no longer hold his paint brush or strum his guitar he could be found at his home in Wise spending time with his loyal companion, his dog, Jack and watching Law and Order.

Per Mike’s wishes no services will be held but instead he wished to be cremated.
