Mary "Tad" Lawson, 82, entered Heaven's gates after a brief illness on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

She was the head of our family and our hearts, she loved and is loved by many. She never met a stranger and always had a smile to share. She was a giving and gentle soul and leaves a legacy of love and kindness. She worked for over 30 years for Barnette's Kwik Shop in Glamorgan until she retired. She was an excellent cook and her hamburgers are still talked about today.

She was of Christian faith and her favorite verse is found in Matthew 11:28-29

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Miller, Sr. and Eula Ayers Miller; brothers, Robert Miller, Jr., Paul Miller and Bill Miller; sisters, Jacqueline Hurt and Lucille Miller and her children's father, Tommy Lawson.

Surviving are her daughter, Stephanie Lawson of Wise; grandson, Tadd Lawson of Winston Salem, NC; son, Robert Lawson and bonus daughter, Karen of Big Stone Gap, VA; her fur baby, Lulu and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Tad Lawson will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel Wise, VA with Pastor Roger Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Sturgill Funeral Home Wise, VA.
