Mary Ruth Absher, 66, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Mary was very proud of her work with AppCAA and the New Opportunity School for Women. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Stidham; and her husband, Dewayne Absher.

She is survived by her children, Angel Varner and husband Chris, David Shirks and Megan, Jason Absher and Sharon, Skylar Absher, Claudette Absher, and Jennie Absher; three special grandsons, Jacob, Dave and Raylen Shirks; as well as eight other grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life for Mary Absher will be held from 3:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Phat Patty's (formerly The Old Mill) located at 44 N Mill Ave in Lebanon, VA. Please visit www.sturgillfuneral.com to leave online condolences for the family.
