Martha "Penny" Jessee, 82, passed peacefully into Heaven on Sunday, November 5, 2023 with her loving family by her side.

She will be very much missed by her family. "Mom" loved to cook and was especially known for her peanut butter fudge, prune cakes, yummy dressing, fried chicken tenders (she made for her boys anytime they ask), and their most favorite, biscuits and gravy. She took care of everyone and was a true matriarch. Our mother and mamaw was our life and we rejoice in knowing she is in heaven.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emory Castle and wife Catherine; sisters, Margaret, Ethel, Marie, Regina and Anna May; brothers, Jessee, Curtis, Joe, Donnie and Cecil.

Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Harrison Jessee Sr. "Harry"; son, Harrison "Bubbie" Jessee, Jr. and wife Kendra; daughters, Virginia Beverly and Betty Sexton and husband Don; grandchildren, Kristin Beverly and husband Sonny, Cassandra Collins and husband Michael (who was more like a grandson), Justin Jessee (Samantha), Sarah Boggs and husband Brandon; a special daughter-in-law, Kelley Jessee; great-grandchildren, Ryan Collins, Zachary Jones (Taylor), Ethan Collins, Jacob Stidham, Hudson Boggs, Landon Boggs, Solomon Boggs, Asher Jessee and Sadie Sargent; great-great-grandchildren, Larryn Jones, Maddox Jones, Paisley Jones and coming January 2024, Adelie Jones; sisters, Georgia, Mary Alice and Sadie; two very special nephews she loved like her own, Lee and Lester Sexton, along with several nieces and nephews and friends left to cherish her precious memories.

Funeral services for Penny Jessee will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Roger Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till time of services at 2:00 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home Wise, VA.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Justin, Ryan, Ethan, Jacob, Michael and Lester. Honorary Pallbearers are Zachary, Lee and Don.
