Lottie "Jean" Arms Mullins, 72, of Coeburn, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Ballad Hospice House in Bristol, TN following complications from chronic heart disease and a recent series of strokes.

For years, her physical heart was sustained by her enormous capacity to love — her deep devotion to her family and friends, and her unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jean's kindness and her remarkable ability to connect with people will forever be her legacy. She possessed genuine care and concern for others and desired above all that they know the goodness of the Lord.

A faithful pastor's wife, Jean served alongside her husband throughout their years of ministry. She never met a stranger. Once she spoke with you, she prayed for you — and welcomed you into what quickly became her extended family. Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit and example will live on in the countless lives she touched.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Slemp and Georgie Stanley Arms; her sisters, Lois (Clyde) Jessee and Pauline (Kyle) Jessee and their only son David Kyle Jessee; and her brother, Donald (Anna) Armes.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband and partner of 54 years, Jerry E. Mullins of Coeburn, VA; her only daughter, Jeannie (Preston) Adams of Norton, VA; her only grandchild, Bailey Adams of Wise, VA whom she adored; her mother-in-law, Shirley E. Mullins of Coeburn, VA; her sister-in-law, Pam (Tom) Martin of Sylva, NC; and her special nephew, who was more like a brother, Ronnie (Hazel) Jessee of Wise, VA. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews whom she treated as her own children. Among her many treasured friendships, she shared a special bond with Linda Dale of Wise, VA, who was like a sister to her. She also leaves behind multiple church families whom she loved very much.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 21, 2026, 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn. Funeral Services will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeremy Mullins and Pastor Gary Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the New Maple Grove Cemetery Sandy Ridge. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Norton Community Hospital, Bristol Regional Medical Center Neurological Unit, and Ballad Hospice House for the kindness, gentleness, and compassionate care shown to Jean and her family during this time.  Also, thanks to special neighbors Jason and Diedre Bentley for their kindness.

In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with her generous spirit, the family asks that donations be made to your local food bank, outreach ministry, or favorite charity in her honor. Her greatest wish would be for others to help those in need and to show kindness above all else.
