Linda Burton, 80, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Linda was the baby of fourteen children. She was raised in church and invited Jesus into her life at a young age. She enjoyed serving the Lord in church by singing. She and her sisters loved singing together and would often perform at gatherings. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Burton; her parents, Denver and Myrtle Short and twelve of her siblings.

Surviving are her son, Craig Burton and wife Lori; her daughters, Rhonda Bowles and husband Mike and Julie Hill and husband Josh; grandchildren, Bradley Burton, Amber Swan, Jade Adams, Marilyn Burton, Landon Trent, Luke Trent, Charly Windsor and husband Josh, Kyle Peeks and wife Alyssa, Ginger Dasilva and husband Joe, Katlyn Houser and husband Austin, Aidan Hill, Caleb Hill, Ava Hill; honorary grandson, Jordan Strong; great-grandchildren, Terrance Trent, Natalyn and John Windsor, Forrest IV and Delaney Swan, Abel Knighten and Henry Peeks; sister, Shirley Adams; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Bradley Burton, Landon and Luke Trent, Aiden and Caleb Hill and Jordan Strong.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Bowles and Hossie (Josh) Hill.

Funeral services for Linda Burton will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, Wise, VA with Pastor Roger Barker and Pastor Ernie Addington officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, VA. Graveside committal services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, VA. Burial will follow. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 A.M. at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
