Leslie Ray Ritchie went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Upon arrival he was greeted by his parents, Lloyd and Allie Ritchie, sons, Michael Wayne, and Jason Scott; bonus parents, Erwin, and Evelyn Grizzle; brothers, Harold, Douglas, Glenn, Gary, and "sis" Anna Wilson.

Les was born and raised in Coeburn, VA. and resided on Sandy Ridge his entire life. He was a Baptist minister, pastoring Mary's Chapel Church, Swords Creek Community Baptist Church, and the Old Maple Grove Baptist Church before retiring from his ministry. He also worked at VICC for many years, Clinchfield Railroad, and was an Army Veteran.

Leslie loved people and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He loved studying God's word and continued his service to the Lord by preaching weekly appointments. One of his many gifts was comforting loved ones during times of loss and participated in countless funerals. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and attending any event his granddaughter, Cloey "Bug" was involved in. He never knew a stranger and loved his family fiercely.

Those left to cherish Les's memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Susan; daughter Holly (Daniel) Bailey; granddaughter, Cloey Bailey; siblings, Curtis Bays (Connie) Ritchie, Janet Jones; brothers-in-law, Danny (Sandra) Grizzle, David (Donna) Grizzle; sisters-in-law, Carol Ritchie, Geneva Ritchie, and Yupen Ritchie; nieces, nephews, and abundance of close friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 28, 2022, 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the New Maple Grove Baptist Church. The Celebration of Life will be held at 1 P.M. with Dr. Joe Glenn Sluss and Pastor Marty Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in the New Maple Grove Church Cemetery with Brother Sammy Hall officiating. In Lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Old Maple Grove Baptist Church 6478 Dr. Ralph Stanley Highway Coeburn, VA. 24230.
