Larry A. Powers, 82, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his home in Rice, Virginia.

He was a loving uncle to many great nieces and nephews and he had a special place in his heart for children. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He loved fishing with his niece Sharon and hunting with his special friend Ronnie. Larry worked in strip mining for many years and farming until the day he passed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, York and Julia Powers and his brothers, Jerry Powers, Sr., Hugh Pat Powers, Bobby Powers, Leonard Powers, Alton Powers and Lowell Eugene Powers.

Surviving are two brothers, Wayne Powers and wife Vonda and Johnny Powers and wife Judy; a sister, Cynthia Ward; special sister-in-law, Freda Powers; special care giver, Sharon Stanley; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Larry Powers will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel Wise, VA with Pastor Owen Powers, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery, Norton, VA. Family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M.
