Larry Rodney Baker, 75, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at the Norton Community Hospital Norton, Virginia. He was an employee of Coastal Coal Company from 1972 to 2004 as a loader operator and truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, Conley Ernest Baker, mother, Reva Evelyn Baker, brother, Conley Morris Baker, nephews, Christopher Morris Baker, Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to auctions, the Lays Building to listen to Bluegrass, taking tannery trips to Yoders, and in summer mowing his lawn, and spending, most of his time with his little buddy Hershey.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Jeri Sue Baker, children, Kimberly Paige (Shawn) Puckett of Kingsport, TN., and Larry Conley (Sue) Baker of Mooresburg, TN., four grandchildren, David Cole (Tori) Rutherford of Bluff City, TN., Larry Zachary (Taylor) Baker of Coeburn, VA., Matthew Grant (Hannah) Rutherford of Big Stone Gap, VA., James Bailey (Allie) Baker of Wise, VA., eight great grandchildren, Blakley Rose Hensley, Hudson Grant Rutherford, Carter Bray Baker, Owen Matthew Rutherford, Houston Lane Baker, Abel Lyn Baker, Hazeleigh Ray Baker, and Remington Eli Rutherford; several uncles, 2 nephews, 1 great nephew, 1 great niece, and host of cousins, a special family member, Niki Adkins, and a special friend, Dickie Sergant.

Family will receive friends Friday, December 29, 2023, 12 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Funeral Service will follow in the chapel with Pastor Mark Stallard and Elder Stacy Potter officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery Lions Fork Coeburn, VA.
