Kenneth William Rose, 84, took his heavenly flight on Monday, August 26, 2024 after a brief illness.
Kenneth was born to Emmett and Nora Bevins Rose of Pound, VA.
Kenneth was an active member of First Church of God in Wise where he enjoyed singing songs and praising his Lord and Savior. He also enjoyed being a part of Vacation Bible School, where he was the official popcorn maker. Kenneth taught school for over 30 years in Wise and Dickenson Counties, where he touched the lives of many students.
Kenneth also enjoyed singing gospel music, he sang with various groups throughout his life. Enjoyed going on bus tours, attending gospel concerts, watching western film shows, collecting gospel, country and western records and DVDs and working jigsaw puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Nora Rose; and brothers-in-law, Berlin Skeen, Sr and Foyster Bolling Jr and wife Gina.
Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Joe Ann Rose; daughter, Carys Lynne Jones and husband Rickie; two grandsons, Jordan Jones and wife Ashton and Keegan Jones and fiancé Jayda; one sister, Betty Skeen; nieces, Dana Skeen and Donna Vanover; nephews, Berlin Skeen, Jr and David Bolling; great-nieces, Katelyn Skeen, Sarajayne Vanover and Autumn Bolling; great-nephews, Wallace Skeen, Eric Vanover and AJ Bolling; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Kenneth Rose will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the First Church of God, 702 E Main St, Wise, VA 24293 with Pastor Gary Maggard officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church. Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 29, 2024 in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 A.M. Wednesday at the church to go to the cemetery in procession.
