Joyce Karen Browning-Banks Ledington, 77, of Coeburn, Virginia, formerly of Lynch, KY passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 following a long battle with breast cancer.

Joyce was born in Letcher County, KY, the second of five children of Joseph Tom Browning, Jr. and Viola Hensley Mathews, who preceded her in death.

She married Jerry Wayne Banks in 1964 and were married for 31 years. Jerry passed in 2004. She remarried Jim Ledington in 2012.

Also preceding her in death was one of her four siblings: Sisters, Jennifer Jo Webb and Patty Browning.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Jim Ledington; brothers, Ronnie, Tommy (Pam), Ed (Gail), John (Susan), Joey, and Randall; her sisters, Gwen (John), Patsy, and Mabel; her children, Paula Banks-Halcomb (Keith), Rhonda Banks, Alexis Banks-Keith (Mark); her beloved grandchildren, Logan Banks, Megan Boggs (Adam), Casey Shelton, Dylan Banks, Hayley Banks, Sheridan Hogg, Kinsley Laster, Kara Waddle (Nathan), Kirstie Hensley (Jake), Sidney Keith, Amber Keith; her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Natalie, Skyler, and Audrey Boggs; a host of very loved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. She also leaves behind her fur babies and companions, Lucky and Shadow.

Joyce loved her family and friends, and all things Jesus. She was a woman of great strength and of great faith. She loved the Lord God with all her heart. She was a member of the Stevens Church of God in Wise, VA where she met and surrounded herself with a wonderful church family and was also the church pianist.

Joyce was a graduate of Whitesburg High School in Whitesburg, KY. After having her children, she became an educator at the Lynch Christian Academy in Lynch, KY for over 5 plus years. She always had a love for music, especially Gospel music. She had many musical talents from playing the piano, accordion, guitar, violin, and yes even the banjo.

Visitation for Joyce Ledington will be held from 5:30 P.M. till 7:30 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Stevens Church of God in Wise, VA with Pastor Sidney Turner officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland, KY at 2:00 P.M on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
