It is with great sorrow that the Rose family announces the passing of Joseph Marion Rose Sr., age 85, of Coeburn, Virginia, on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born in Coeburn, Virginia, and was the son of Elsie Mae Rose and Willard James Rose of Coeburn, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his son, Joseph Marion Rose Jr., of Coeburn, Virginia. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Lloyd of Taylor, Michigan, and JoAnn Watkins of Chadbourn, North Carolina. Survivors include his devoted wife of 65 years, Margaret Rose; his daughter, Julie Rose; his sister, Cathy Sullivan of Empire, Alabama; his grandsons, James "Jimmy" Rose of Westland, Michigan, and Cody Rose of Coeburn, Virginia; his granddaughters, Megan Greear and Amanda Brickey, both of Coeburn, Virginia; his sister-in-law, Jane Gnas; and several other nephews and nieces residing in Michigan and Alabama.

Joe was a man that was devoted to his family, his friends, and most importantly, his faith in God all throughout his life. Joe was a man of many trades and was a self-taught carpenter, plumber, electrician, gardener, and mechanic. He worked as a truck driver at Thibodeau and Carolina Trucking in Michigan where he retired. Once retired, he spent the remainder of his life teaching and helping others. Joe was a selfless man that will always be remembered for his kindness, his patience, his knowledge, his willingness to help others, his many stories, his love for his family, and for his steadfast faith in God.  Please visit www.sturgillfuneral.com to sign guest register book online.
