Jimmy Darrel "Fox" Dorton, 67, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, Tennessee.

Jim was born to Edith "Rowdy" Church. His family was his everything. Aside from family, canning and gardening was his favorite hobby. He enjoyed shooting, dryland fishing, camping and fishing on a riverbank. Fox was always up for an adventure, big or small with his best friends, Jeff Stanley, Dean Mullins and Sam Maggard. If you showed up to his door and said "let's go" he'd grab his hat and cane and out the door he went. It truly was the little things that made him smile.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Michelle Dorton; his mother, Edith "Rowdy" Church; brothers, Ulysses "Preacher" Church and Tom Dorton; great nephew, Aden Daye and cousin, Sam Maggard.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Linda Moore Dorton; sons, Jimmy Dorton, Jr. and James Dorton; daughter, Julia Bolling; legal god daughter, Libby Collins and her sister, Jasmine Caldwell; brothers, Eddie Wayne Church and wife Lisa Ledford, Bill Church and Levi Dorton; nephews, Jon Dorton and Wayne Woodson; nieces, Felicite Daye and husband Joe and Shasta Honaker; four grandchildren; eight great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery, Pound, Virginia.
