Charlotte Jean Brown Aker, 73, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at her home.

She attended Wise Baptist Church.

She was a 1968 graduate of Clear Fork High School in Bellville, OH, a 1995 graduate of Mountain Empire Community College as a RN, a 1999 graduate of the University Virginia at Wise with a BSN, and was an employee of St. Mary's Hospital for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Helen Brown.

Surviving are her daughters, Susan Aker Duncan and Amanda Jean Brown Aker; grandchildren, Benjamin Cole Aker Duncan and Adrianna Jean Brown Aker; her brother, Gary Brown and wife Vickie; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Jean Aker will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Wise Baptist Church, 211 Spring Ave N.E., Wise, VA 24293 with Rev. Mike Winters officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Ohio. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions to be made to Southwest Virginia Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund - 671 HWY 58 East, Norton, VA 24273 or PAWS of Southwest Virginia - P.O. Box 576, Coeburn, Virginia 24230.
