James Roger Garrett, 61, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, fighting a courageous battle with cancer in the Norton Community Hospital Norton, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Lynn Garrett. He attended Coeburn High School and the Zion Ministries Wise, Virginia. He was a former employee of Vulcan Materials.

Surviving are his parents, J.D. & Thelma Garrett of Coeburn, Virginia; a son, Rod (B.J.) Garrett of Coeburn, Virginia; a daughter, Christy Garrett of Coeburn, Virginia; special daughter, Bergetta Ward of Coeburn, Virginia; two grandchildren, Hobie Salyers, Brooklyn Garrett; his companion, Hinze; a sister, Tessa Humes of Marble Hill, MO; a niece, Elizabeth Humes of Marble Hill, MO; special friend, Dallas Harvey of Coeburn, Virginia; his mother-in-law, Shirley Williams of Norton, Virginia; a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 1, 2021, 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6 ^th Street NW Coeburn, Virginia. Funeral Services will follow at 7 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Hager officiating. Graveside Services will be conducted 11 A.M. Thursday in the Temple Hill Memorial Park Castlewood, Virginia. The family and friends will meet at 10 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
