James Robert Bell, 47, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in the Holston Valley Medical Center Kingsport, Tennessee. He was an employee for 23 years as Senior Correctional Officer at the Federal Prison in Pennington Gap, Virginia; a Veteran of the U.S. Army; a 1997 Graduate of Coeburn High School and was of the Christian Faith.

Surviving is wife, Kristen Bell; a son, Andrew Bell of Norton, Virginia, his parents, Roger & Debbie Bell of Coeburn, Virginia; a sister, Ginny (JR) Fields of Coeburn, Virginia, his beloved dogs, Penny and Blue; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 28, 2026, 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, Virginia. Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnny Adkins and Pastor Jeremy Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens Coeburn, Virginia.
