Hoyt Keith Miller Sr., 82, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, in the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital Jefferson City, Tennessee. He was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam Era and joined when he was 17 years old.

He was selfless, always put his family and others first, he had accepted Salvation and Jesus into his heart, fought fearlessly for his family and one last battle there was no way to win. He was a hard-working man, liked to hunt, fish, camp, build wood projects and was avid landscaper and Gardner. He was born in Hancock County, Tennessee to the late M.D. Miller and Ruth Hurd Miller Hayes; also preceded in death by a baby sister, Joyce Ann Miller, two brothers, L.C. Miller, and Ralph Miller.

Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Lawson Miller, four children, Carolyn (Mike) Angesano, Brenda (Jose) Miller, Debra (Brandon) Miller, Hoyt Keith (Maira) Miller Jr., grandchildren, Michael Gonzales, Daniel Balderas, Justin Miller, Charles Miller, Taylor Miller, Ana Ingram, Jonathan Isaac, Alyssa Batista, Abigail Miller; great-grandchildren, Chase Miller, and Helaina Miller; sisters, Dorothy Gibson, Jewel (Danny) White, and brother, Farrell (Glenda) Hayes;  sisters-in-law, Kathleen Lawson, Myrna (Dale) Ward, and brother-in-law, Edward Lawson, several other family members.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 13, 2023, 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Funeral Service will follow in the chapel with Pastor Brandon White officiating. Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Big Stone Gap, VA. with Military Rites conducted by the U.S. Marines Honor Team and Local Veterans.
