Glenda Sue Parks, 79, peacefully went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

She had a long, wonderful life and enjoyed reading books, planting flowers, cooking Sunday dinners for her family and canning vegetables grew from their gardens. Over her lifetime she worked at the old Brass Lantern restaurant, The Wise Inn, Annettes Dari Barn and Finleys Grill. She devoted over 30 years of her life at Wise Primary School as a cafeteria cook and was a lifetime member of the Wise Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Felton Thompson; brother, Thomas Thompson; sisters, Patty Hibbits, Norma Adkins, Shirley West, Janice Taylor and Deborah Salyers.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Billy Parks; son, Billy Parks, Jr.; daughter, Nicole Wells and husband Anthony; four grandchildren, Corey Parks, Sarah Wells, Katelynn Parks and Colton Wells; two great-grandchildren, Harper Parks and Owen Parks; sister, Sharon Evans and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Glenda Parks will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 7, 2025 at The Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Walter Taylor officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Friday at Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Beverly Cemetery in Wise. Burial will follow. Family and friends will meet at 10:40 A.M. Saturday at the Funeral Home to go to the cemetery in procession.
