Gerald Eugene Sloce, 77, passed peacefully at his home on Monday, January 22, 2024. He closed his eyes on earth and opened them in glory. His loving wife and daughter was by his side.

Gerald will be greatly missed by all who knew him and left a remarkable legacy behind with many years of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no doubt that Gerald was greeted by a multitude of people who made it into glory because of his obedience to his calling to spread the gospel.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph M. Sloce and Ollie Brock Sloce and a brother, Wayne Sloce.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Claudette Hunsucker Sloce; daughter, Cynthia Boggs; son-in-law and his best friend, Mark Boggs of Kingsport, TN; granddaughter, Alexa Hoelle-Boggs and wife Lizz of Biloxi, MS (these are the people that Gerald loved and lived for); twin sister, Judy Addington (Clyde); sister, Barbara Barnette of Coeburn, VA; brothers, Ray Sloce (Kathy) and Freddie Sloce both of Wise, VA, Mark Sloce (Marie) of Ewing, VA and J.M. Sloce (Donna) of Prestonsburg, KY and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Gerald Sloce will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 28, 2024 in the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Howard, Rev. Roger Sloce and Pastor Darrell Bolling officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till time of services at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at Sturgill Funeral Home Wise, VA.

Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 29, 2024 in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 A.M. on Monday at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
