George Henry Sailers III, 58, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the Lonesome Pine Medical Center in Big Stone Gap, VA.

George was born in Lake Charles, LA to George Henry Sailers Jr. and Margaret Emily Sailers.

George was raised in Wise by his mother and step-father, Givens Hibbitts.

He was a 1984 graduate of J.J. Kelly High School.

George spent 28 years as a coal miner and was a very respected one by many. George was an avid deer hunter and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with friends, family and his "best girl" MaDayne, his beloved pit bull.

George was an amazing man. He loved to joke around and have fun. He had a heart of gold and could make a friend anywhere. He loved telling stories to his children and grandchildren about his younger days. George will be deeply missed by many.

George was preceded in death by his birth father, George Sailers Jr; his step-father, Givens Hibbitts; one brother, James Hibbitts; and one granddaughter, Everlee Sailers.

Surviving are his mother, Margaret; his two children, Britney Schieber (Bobby) and Micah Sailers (Laken); six grandchildren, Corbin, Emily, Lilly, Zaedyn, Easton and Olive; sister, Judy Dellinger and husband Rick; and his dog, MaDayne; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for George Henry Sailers III will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Roger Barker officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. Monday, July 7, 2025 in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA. Family and friends will meet at 11:15 A.M. Monday, July 7, 2025 at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
