NORTON, VA                                                                           DECEMBER 9, 2025

George Wayland Barnette, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 8, 2025.

He was of the Pentecostal Faith and attended Guest River Pentecostal Church.

He was a retired coal miner, having worked for Old Ben Coal Company and Lebo Mining.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enos and Maudella Barnette; and siblings, Richard Barnette, John Barnette, Polly Baldwin, and Marie Castle.

Surviving are his sons, Michael Wayne Barnette and wife Susan, Brian David Barnette and wife Sherry, and Johnny Dwight Barnette and wife Lisa; daughters, Tammy Barnette Meade and husband Tony and Patty Denise Fogarty; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for George Barnette will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Darrell Bolling officiating. Burial will follow in the Beverly Cemetery in Wise, VA. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 1:00 P.M.
