Florence Melvina Franks Stout Tickles, 92, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday June 8, 2023. She was born and raised in Wise County, in the Herald VA community of Coeburn VA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Doyle Franks, and Rosa Annabelle Carico Franks. Brothers, Gifford Franks, Troy Franks, and Bernard Franks. Sisters, Dorothy Franks Spears, and Margaret Franks Collins.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack Tickles; four brothers, Wayne, and Curtis Franks, both of Coeburn, Walton Franks, W. Harrison, Indiana, Milas Franks, Abingdon, Virginia.

Sons, Wesley (Mary) Stout, Florida, and James (Alma) Stout, NC.

Grandchildren Kathy (Dennis) Braland, Kimberly (Charlie) Hahn both of Florida, April Stout, and Anna (Cody) Mason, NC. Lance (Katie) Stout, Washington, Matt (Rosie), and Robbie, both from Virginia.

Several great grandchildren.

Florence was a loving devoted wife and mother and treasured grandmother. She was a lifelong Christian unashamed of her faith of her Lord Jesus Christ. She was an excellent seamstress and talented artist and musician. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 10, 2023, 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn. Funeral Service will follow in the chapel with Pastor Roger McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Memorial Park Castlewood, Virginia.
