Faye Laney Fields, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at her home in Wise.

She was born to the late James Clyde and Mary Laney.

Faye loved people. She never met a stranger and would go out of her way to help anyone. She was the epitome of kindness and love. Faye never let a day pass without speaking to as many people as possible and telling them they were loved. Even in the end she maintained that same love and desire to express kindness and compassion to others.

Family and friends were the steady light of her world- the warmth she woke to each morning and the comfort she fell back on at day's end. She loved with a quiet strength, giving of herself freely and finding her greatest joy not in material items but in laughter, stories and simple moments shared with those she held dear. As a mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she taught by example what it meant to love deeply and stand faithfully with one another.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Laney; sisters, Georgia, Edith, and Bonnie; as well as her brothers, Earl and Ronnie.

Faye is survived by her loving husband, of 58 years, Fred Fields; one sister, Joyce Mills and husband Robert; two brothers, Billy and Larry; three children, Rebecca Ann Fields and fiancé Anthony Shockley, Fred Lee Fields Jr., and Jeff Fields and wife Cora; four grandchildren, Zac Clifton and wife Kasi, Ronnie Stallard, Jacob Fields, Calista Issac and husband Tyler; five great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Faye Fields will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Greg Sergent officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. till time of services at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
